Born in 1885 in the heart of Yarraville, the former Methodist church was the only place where The Factory 3013 could truly come alive. An entity in itself, this historic building allows for the perfect parallel of history meets contemporary. Just like Andy Warhol’s Factory in New York, The Factory 3013 is a creative space that places no limits on innovation and imagination, while retaining a strong sense of community and familiarity.
The Factory 3013 came into existence on Anderson Street in 2017, where
it could only be described as a small hole in the world with big dreams. Director Matt had a simple ethos: ‘just do fucking good hair and the rest
will come’. This mentality attracted amazing clients, and with them a bad-ass team of stylists. The hard work and amazing support from the team and clients alike allowed The Factory 3013 to grow into the thriving salon we know today.
Above all else, we believe in maintaining the health and integrity of hair.
The combination of our well-rounded and educated stylists, and our natural and cruelty-free product partners EVO, Olaplex, Staino, K18, and Wella, means that we can guarantee you leave our salon with ‘Dream Hair’ – healthy, shiny, and tailored to you. We believe creative cutting or colouring can be on a vibrant or natural palette, and both trend-based and timeless hair can be tailored to anyone. In essence, we are here to break the rules and help our clients feel the best they can.

Edie Sedgwick was Andy Warhol’s beautiful and famous but deeply troubled muse.
Warhol’s original Factory was also known as the ‘Silver Factory’. After attending a tinfoil and silver paint decorated ‘haircutting party’ in 1963. ALONGSIDE artist Ray Johnson, Warhol requested the same scheme be recreated for his recently leased loft.

As a member of the Sustainable Salons initiative, The Factory 3013 makes a conscious effort to reduce the impact of waste produced in salon. Metals and paper are sold for recycling, the proceeds of which are donated to provide meals for hungry people, hair is collected and used to make Hair Booms, which will one day help clean up oil spills along our coastlines, chemicals are neutralised and turned into recycled water, and collected ponytails are sent to wig-makers for medically-induced hair loss.
